Our proposal aimed at the revitalisation of the historical city center by reactivating the spaces in between the old town and later build neighborhoods. Green spaces along the former city wall as well as mobility hotspots at the location of the former city gates transform these rundown spaces into an infrastructure of connection rather than separation, a space of recreation and mobility. At the same time connect the new green spaces and transport lines the city toward the important water streams of the Datteln-Hamm channel and the Lippe channel.

Reconnecting the city with itself as well as its surrounding…

Back to the historical 15-minute city

Residents of the historic town have again access to all services of everyday life by a 15-minute foot walk. Moreover, they have the possibility to access several mobility nodes in order to reach several cities in the surrounding by public transport.

Cities that want to play a role in the competition for businesses and residents must be welcoming to the outside world, have a good public transport network, and provide a wide range of cultural, leisure, and nearby recreational opportunities.
